For Immediate Release: Bahamian and Foreign Nationals Charged In Magistrate Court
BAHAMIAN, JAMAICAN AND HAITIANS CHARGED IN MAGISTRATE COURT WITH IMMIGRATION OFFENCES
(1) Bahamian, (1) Jamaican and (25) Haitians appeared in Freeport Magistrate Court #2 before Magistrate Charlton Smith on 21st January 2019 on charges of Illegal Embarkation, Overstaying & Illegal Embarkation and Illegal Entry & Illegal Embarkation respectively. They all pled guilty to the charges. They were cautioned and discharged.
Additionally, the Jamaican national was convicted of Overstaying and fined $500.00 or in default serve (2) months at Bahamas Department of Corrections.
The Haitian nationals were then turned over to Department of Immigration awaiting direct repatriation from Grand Bahama.
