10 FOREIGN NATIONALS CONVICTED IN MAGISTRATE’S COURTS
On March 29th 2019, (2) Colombian nationals and (1) Haitian national were arraigned in Freeport Magistrate’s Court #2 before Magistrate Debbye Ferguson. They were convicted of the following charges;
Gary Alexander Paez Manotas and Diana Mireya Quintero Briceno were convicted of Overstaying and fined $3,000.00 each or in default of payment serve (18) months imprisonment at Bahamas Department of Correctional Services. They were arrested on March 28th, 2019 in Freeport, Grand Bahama. Deportation was ordered.
Jackson Jean was convicted of Illegal Landing and fined $300.00 or in default of payment serve (1) year imprisonment at Bahamas Department of Correctional Services. He was arrested on March 28th 2019 in Freeport, Grand Bahama. Deportation was ordered.
Additionally, in New Providence Magistrate Court #6, (7) Haitian nationals were arraigned before Magistrate Subusola Swain and was convicted of Illegal Landing. Six were sentenced to (1) month imprisonment at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services and one was fined $300.00 or in default of payment serve (1) month imprisonment at Bahamas Department of Correctional Services. Early deportation was ordered.
