18 FOREIGN NATIONALS APPREHENDED IN EARLY MORNING OPERATION
On Wednesday, February 12, 2020, during an operation by the Enforcement Unit (16) sixteen Haitian nationals and (2) two Jamaican nationals were apprehended in New Providence for various Immigration offences. Subsequently, they were transported to the Carmichael Road Detention Centre for processing.
In an unrelated matter, (5) Five foreign nationals appeared in Magistrate’s Court #6 before Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans and were convicted as follows:
Shevel Morrison (M), of Manchester, Jamaica was charged with Overstaying and fined $1,500.00 or in default of payment serve (1) one month at Bahamas Department of Correctional Services (BDCS). Charles Riphin (M), of St. Louis-du-Nord, Haiti was charged with Overstaying and fined $3,000.00 or in default of payment serve (1) one month at BDCS. Peterline Pierre (F), of Trou-du-Nord, Haiti was charged with Overstaying and Giving False Answer and was fined $1,500.00 or in default of payment serve (2) two months at BDCS. Remy Pierre (M) of Lorogan, Haiti and Widely Cenosiey (M) of La Tortue, Haiti were both charged with Illegal Landing and sentenced to (2) two months at BDCS.
