Immigration Department Advances Mental Health Awareness at the Mental Health Act in Action Symposium

The Immigration Department proudly participated in the Mental Health ACT in Action Symposium on January 23, 2025, at Atlantis, Coral Towers. This pivotal event brought together stakeholders from various sectors to discuss the implementation of the Mental Health Act and its role in national development.

 

Chief Immigration Officer Kainell Brown delivered an impactful presentation during Panel 2, shedding light on the Immigration Department’s initiatives to integrate mental health awareness into its policies and daily operations. Her presentation highlighted the department’s commitment to supporting the well-being of its officers and the wider community. The event also featured remarks by the Hon. Dr. Michael Darville, Minister of Health and Wellness, who reinforced the government’s dedication to advancing mental health services and legislation in The Bahamas.

 

Also in attendance were Superintendent Shemah Saunders-Darling, Kara Ferguson, Senior Immigration Officer, and Alexandria Fox, Immigration Officer Gr. I. Their presence reflected the department’s collective commitment to fostering mental health awareness and promoting collaboration across sectors.
