36 FOREIGN NATIONALS APPREHENDED DURING A JOINT LAW ENFORCEMENT OPERATION
On Friday March 8th, 2019 between the hours of 9:30PM to 2:30AM, the Immigration Enforcement team carried out ‘Operation Impact’ in New Providence and arrested a total of (36) foreign nationals, inclusive of (15) Haitian nationals, (9) Jamaican nationals, (6) Venezuelan nationals, (5) Guyanese nationals and (1) St. Lucian national who were subsequently transported to the Detention Center, Carmichael Road for further processing.
Chief Immigration Officer Harold Thurston, Officer-in-Charge of the Enforcement Unit led this operation with the combined effort of the Department’s K-9 Unit, The Royal Bahamas Police Force’s Southwestern Division (RBPF), and The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF). This operation covered areas inclusive of Carmichael Road, Golden Gates, Mermaid Boulevard, Soldier Road, Minnie Street, Jennie Street and Thompson Boulevard.
During this operation, a check was done at Sugar Hill Club on Thompson Boulevard, and a total of (20) Females were taken into immigration custody.
We wish to remind the general public that we are committed to carrying out the mandates of all Law Enforcement agencies in combating illegal migration, immigration offences and criminal offences. This results in a number of persons being arrested for various criminal offences by RBPF.
In an effort to ensure compliance with the Statute Laws of our Country, the aforementioned foreign nationals will face prosecution in the Magistrate’s Court.
