Becoming an Immigration Officer
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF IMMIGRATION
- Applicants must be Bahamian citizens aged between 18 and 30 years.
- The applicant must have a clean police record and no criminal history.
- A minimum of two Bahamas General Certificates of Secondary Education (B.G.C.S.E.) with grades of C or above, or their equivalent, is required, one of which must be in English Language.
Recruits/Trainee Immigration Officers must undergo four months of formal classroom training, followed by eight months of on-the-job training.
SALARIES (ENTRY LEVEL)
Trainee Immigration Officers | $18,000.00 annually |
Immigration Guard | $13,250.00 – $23,650 annually |
Clerks – A minimum of two B.G.C.S.E. subjects or equivalent is required. | $13,200.00 – $21,750.00 annually |
Trainee Administrative Cadets – A minimum of a Diploma, which would normally represent two-thirds or more of a program. | $10,700.00 – $23,450 annually |
Janitors / Messenger – A minimum of three or four B.J.C. subjects is required. | $10,700.00 – $21,050.00 annually |
