Becoming an Immigration Officer

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF IMMIGRATION

  1. Individuals must be Bahamian citizens between the ages of 18 to 30 years.
  2. Have no criminal record (Clean Police Record).
  3. Must possess a minimum of two Bahamas General Certificates of Secondary Education (B.G.C.S.E) with grade C or above or equivalent.

Trainee Immigration Officers maintain a formal classroom setting for four months and on-the-job training for the remaining eight months.

SALARIES (ENTRY LEVEL)

Trainee Immigration Officers $18,000.00 annually
Immigration Guard $13,250.00 – $23,650 annually
Clerks – A minimum of two B.G.C.S.E. subjects or equivalent is required. $13,200.00 – $21,750.00 annually
Trainee Administrative Cadets – A minimum of a Diploma, which would normally represent two-thirds or more of a program. $10,700.00 – $23,450 annually
Janitors / Messenger – A minimum of three or four B.J.C. subjects is required. $10,700.00 – $21,050.00 annually
