Bahamas Department of Correctional Services Celebrates 72nd Anniversary with Focus on Transformation and Rehabilitation
The Bahamas Department of Correctional Services (BDOCS) celebrated its 72nd anniversary under the theme “Building on the Legacy: Steadily Advancing Towards Corrections” with a Church Service on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Southland Cathedral Global Ministries, Soldier Road.
Officers from the Department of Immigration, led by Director William Pratt, joined government officials, BDOCS partners, and stakeholders to mark the occasion.
Hon. Wayne Munroe reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transforming BDOCS, emphasizing improvements to facilities and addressing overcrowding. Commissioner of Corrections, Doan Cleare, highlighted the shift to a corrections model focused on rehabilitation and reentry, with guidance from international partners.
Pastor Devard Francis delivered a powerful sermon, encouraging attendees to remain hopeful and trust God for their breakthroughs.
