JOINT OPERATION CONDUCTED BY IMMIGRATION DEPARTMENT AND RBPF

 

‘Operation Fresh Start’ commenced on the morning of 17th January 2019 in the capital which led to the arrest of some thirty (30) Haitian Nationals, fourteen (14) males, eleven (11) females and five (5) minors, who were subsequently transported to the Detention Center, Carmichael Road for further processing.

Department of Immigration Enforcement Unit led by Chief Harold Thurston along with the Canine Unit (K-9) with team leader Officer David Rolle joined the Royal Bahamas Police Force’s South and South Western Divisions led by Superintendent Bruce Arnett to conduct a joint operation. This operation covered areas inclusive of Excellence Estates, Cowpen Road, Bain Town, from East street westwards toward Nassau Street, Englerston originating at Moore Avenue proceeding south to Montell Heights.

This operational was intended to remind the general public that we are committed to carrying out the mandates of both agencies to combat illegal migration, immigration offences and criminal offences. This resulted in a number of persons being arrested for various criminal offences by police officers.

The Department will continue these strategic planning efforts, operationalize our resources to establish effective border control management and to ensure compliance with our immigration laws.
