The Cartagena 40+ Plan: A Global Roadmap for Refugee Integration

The Cartagena 40+ Plan provides a comprehensive ten-year roadmap for host countries to integrate refugees, stateless persons, and displaced individuals into everyday society. The initiative aims to address global challenges such as climate change, natural disasters, and conflict through enhanced international cooperation. The convention emphasized the critical importance of global collaboration in implementing this transformative plan.

Representing the Department of Immigration, Senior Immigration Officer Daina Burrows attended the UNHCR-hosted event in Santiago, Chile. She was joined by Ian Winder, Humanitarian Section of the Attorney General’s Office, Matt Reynolds, UNHCR Regional Manager and Philip Miller, Former Ambassador.

The event brought together key stakeholders to advance discussions on the Cartagena 40+ Plan and foster global partnerships.
